Anthropolith (Anthropomorphic Passive Grinding Tool)

• Zooliths and anthropoliths are stone-carved artifacts found from the western Atlantic coast of Brazil to the coast of the Rocha Department in Uruguay. They have been associated with the peoples who built sambaquis (shell mounds formed by the accumulation of mollusk shells). They are believed to have been used for grinding hallucinogenic substances for ceremonial purposes.

• Os zoolitos e antropolitos são artefatos esculpidos em pedra encontrados desde a costa atlântica ocidental do Brasil até a costa do Departamento de Rocha, no Uruguai. Eles têm sido associados aos povos construtores de sambaquis (montículos formados pelo acúmulo de conchas). Acredita-se que fossem utilizados para moer substâncias alucinógenas com fins cerimoniais.
