Yapepó (Funerary Urn / Pot)

  • These vessels were used as funerary urns. They served for the placement of the deceased’s remains (secondary burial) and were buried with a lid. According to the belief that the soul accompanied the body while remaining distinct from it, the spirit would occupy the space between the deceased and the lid.

  • Essas formas eram utilizadas como urnas funerárias. Serviam para a deposição dos restos do falecido (sepultamento secundário), sendo enterradas com uma tampa. De acordo com a crença de que a alma acompanhava o corpo de forma separada, o espírito ocuparia o espaço existente entre o falecido e a tampa.
