The MAPI received the “Morosoli Statuette,” with which the Lolita Rubial Foundation annually honors institutions and personalities of Uruguayan culture. It was granted “In recognition of the valuable work of conservation, recovery, research, exhibition, and dissemination of the pre-Hispanic cultural assets that make up its initial collections. For the restoration and recovery of the magnificent historic building that serves as its home and the sound museological criteria applied in its repurposing… aptly combining private and state initiative (Municipality of Montevideo) in a lucid and effective model of shared management…”.
