The MAPI received the “Morosoli Statuette,” an award presented annually by the Lolita Rubial Foundation to institutions and personalities of Uruguayan culture. It was awarded “In recognition of the valuable work of conservation, restoration, research, exhibition, and dissemination of pre-Hispanic cultural assets that constitute its initial collections. For the restoration and recovery of the magnificent historical building that serves as its headquarters and the well-applied museological criteria for its repurposing… effectively combining private and state (Municipality of Montevideo) initiatives in a lucid and efficient shared management model…”
