MAPI presents the exhibition Aché: Silhouettes of Yoruba Spirituality, a show that invites visitors to delve into the symbolic and cultural richness of this tradition originating in West Africa.

The Yoruba religion, with its orishas, rites, and ancestral stories, has traveled across the centuries, reaching the Americas and transforming into living expressions such as Santería in Cuba, Candomblé in Brazil, and Vodou in Haiti.

The exhibition brings this spirituality into dialogue with contemporary art through the works of Carlos Manuel Jiménez Ramos. His creations evoke the orishas and the patakíes —mythical stories passed down from generation to generation— that preserve and transmit ancestral wisdom, offering teachings about life and coexistence.

With a visual proposal charged with symbolism, Silhouettes of Yoruba Spirituality opens a space for reflection on identity, memory, and cultural heritage, showing how art can become a bridge between past and present, between Africa and the Americas.
