Architecture of the Invisible

By artist Astrid Barfod

Architecture of the Invisible presents the evolution of artist Astrid Barfod toward a deeply abstract language, built from mixed media and the exploration of materials such as acrylic, inks, oil, and other resources that respond to the expressive needs of each work.

In this series, Barfod creates micro-universes populated with signs and symbols that evoke lost or imaginary scripts. These are not codes to be deciphered, but traces that resonate like fragments of a shared memory, that which is sensed but cannot always be named. Each piece works as an inner map, a territory where order and chaos, gesture and structure, silence and chromatic vibration coexist.

The viewer thus enters a space that is not explained, but rather recognized as one’s own in its mystery. It is on that threshold —between what is revealed and what remains hidden— where the work finds its power.

“What is creative does not lie in conscious memory; it is not remembering, and perhaps in that play the eternal dwells for instants… Art does not come to give answers, but to open spaces where the other can enter without guides. What is born in me takes new forms in the one who beholds it.” — Astrid Barfod
