SHIPIBO-KONIBO. Portraits of My Blood
MAPI, in collaboration with the Embassy of Peru in Uruguay, presents the exhibition “SHIPIBO-KONIBO. Portraits of My Blood” by photographer David Díaz.
Through a series of images of great visual power, the exhibition portrays scenes from the daily life of the Shipibo-Konibo people, an Amazonian community of Peru. These photographs, conceived as historical documents, make it possible to explore multiple dimensions: the figure of the traditional subject, ethnic identity, contemporary subjectivity, and the close bond with nature.
David Díaz’s images act as living documents, capturing the beauty, resilience, and cultural depth of a community that continues to leave its mark, inviting the viewer to connect with ways of life and worldviews that are as alive as they are rendered invisible.
