MAPI Digital: innovación y accesibilidad al alcance de todos

The Museum of Pre-Columbian and Indigenous Art (MAPI) held a successful press breakfast where it presented six innovative digital projects that will revolutionize the way the public interacts with its cultural heritage.
Complete Website Redesign
The revamped MAPI website stands out for its minimalist and contemporary design, offering a modern, intuitive, and accessible online experience. This improved platform facilitates navigation and ensures that users can easily access the latest museum news and events.
Virtual Exploration in the Metaverse
MAPI ventures into the Metaverse with an innovative proposal using the Spatial.io platform. This initiative breaks down geographical barriers, allowing users from around the world to interact with the museum’s collection. In this first stage, visitors can explore the collection of archaeologist Arturo Lezama, consisting of 66 pieces digitized with photorealistic models thanks to artificial intelligence. Additionally, MAPI 3D will offer virtual events, educational programs, and guided tours accessible from anywhere in the world.
Launch of the MAPI App
The new MAPI App transforms the visitor experience through technology, offering personalized interaction enriched with multimedia content. This app provides detailed information about collections and exhibitions, including audio guides, interactive internal maps, and accessibility options such as language switching and soon, sign language audio.
Partnership with RedTickets
MAPI has formed an alliance with the company RedTickets for the online sale and collection of tickets, facilitating access to thematic dinners, shows, and other activities. An interactive Totem located in the museum will allow visitors to efficiently purchase tickets, books, and MAPI Café products.
Participation in the VOLARTE Project
MAPI has been invited to join VOLARTE, a Latin American cultural initiative that aims to bring the region’s art and culture to more than 500 million people through traveling digital exhibitions in the most important airports in Latin America. MAPI’s collections will be exhibited through animated digital content in 3D and 360° LED screens in airports in cities like Bogotá, Buenos Aires, Santiago, and Montevideo.
Digital Catalog of the MAPI Library
MAPI has launched the digital catalog of its Library online, specializing in anthropology, archaeology, art, and Latin American thought. Open to the public for consultation on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., the MAPI Library also has a special Treasures section, including the Augusto Torres – Elsa Andrada collection on North American indigenous groups, accessible by appointment.
With these projects, MAPI reaffirms its commitment to accessibility and technological innovation, bringing cultural heritage to a broader and more diverse audience.
