Opening of the José Gómez Rifas exhibition at MAPI Café
The exhibition “Archaeology of a floor: a selective look at some hydraulic tile floors”, by Montevideo artist José Gómez Rifas, opens on June 7 at 12:00 pm at MAPI Café. Gómez Rifas, who is also a professor of Artistic Techniques and Drawing, currently links his work to textile resources as expressive media. In this exhibition, the artist reclaims MAPI’s floor tiles to explore their history and aesthetics from an archaeological perspective, through his selective gaze. The opening will feature the presence of the artist and will offer attendees the opportunity to discuss his work, understand his creative process, and explore the meanings behind the hydraulic tile floors selected for the exhibition. It will be a special occasion for lovers of art, history, and culture.
