MAPI joins the Festival of Death, the first festival of its kind in Uruguay, an initiative that invites us to reflect on death through our identities, memories and artistic expressions. Within this framework, the museum offers a special activity that links heritage, symbolism and an anthropological perspective.

The visit, titled “The Masks of Death,” offers a tour of the museum’s Latin American Masks Collection, guided by its collector, Claudio Rama. It will be an opportunity to explore how different cultures of the continent have represented the face, the passage and the mystery of death through folk art.

Throughout the tour, visitors will be able to discover symbols, rituals and narratives that engage with life, memory and the sacred, revealing how masks act as bridges between the visible and invisible worlds.
