On October 17 at 8:00 pm, Néstor Marconi, renowned orchestrator, arranger, composer and bandoneon player, will give a concert in MAPI’s main hall. Tickets cost $800 UYU and can be purchased through RedTickets.

Néstor Marconi has had an outstanding career in music, especially in tango. In the ’70s he was linked to great figures such as Horacio Salgán, Ástor Piazzolla, Héctor Stamponi and Enrique Francini. During the ’80s, he collaborated with Ástor Piazzolla and Horacio Ferrer on the emblematic work María de Buenos Aires. In the ’90s, he established himself as a classical music soloist, performing the Concerto for Bandoneon and Orchestra by Ástor Piazzolla, as well as his own arrangements of tangos and original compositions, accompanied by orchestras from various cities around the world.

In 1997, Marconi toured with the celebrated cellist Yo-Yo Ma, presenting Alma de tango, based on the music of Ástor Piazzolla. The following year, he took part in the film Tango, and in 2000 he recorded and performed in concert Esperanto, by Lalo Schifrin, in Cologne, Germany.

Currently, Néstor Marconi is the director of the Orquesta Nacional de Música Argentina Juan de Dios Filiberto, with which he has performed at the prestigious Teatro Colón, conducting and performing an adaptation of his work Tangos Concertantes, alongside the renowned pianist Martha Argerich as soloist. He is also the director of the Orquesta del Tango de Buenos Aires and of the Orquesta de la Escuela de Tango Emilio Balcarce.
