MAPI presents Nombrar(me), a contemporary dance solo created and performed by Mariana Torres Herrera. Performances will take place on Saturdays, March 14 and 21, at 1 pm at the museum.

The Museum of Pre-Columbian and Indigenous Art (MAPI) welcomes Nombrar(me), a performance and contemporary dance piece that combines movement, poetry and voice in an intimate and sensitive experience about the construction of identity.

A performance about identity and motherhood

Nombrar(me) takes motherhood as both crisis and revelation. The work explores how this event transforms the body, alters rhythms and changes the way one narrates oneself.

Through the intersection of contemporary dance, poetic word and stage presence, the piece builds an autobiographical weave in dialogue with memory, affections and genealogy. Identity thus appears as a collective construction, made up of multiple voices, stories and absences.

The stage proposal invites the audience to inhabit a territory where the intimate and the vulnerable become creative power. The solo format reinforces the closeness of the experience, creating a direct bond between performer and spectators.
