Sacbé. Camino Blanco
The exhibition “Sacbé. Camino Blanco,” by Mexican photographer Javier Hinojosa, was exhibited at MAPI in 2012 as part of a joint initiative between the museum and the Embassy of Mexico in Uruguay. The author later donated this material to become part of the museum’s collection.
Hinojosa’s work offers a new, artistic, and contemporary perspective on the indigenous past—particularly the Mayan architectural monuments that have been preserved to this day—allowing us to rediscover the past while also reflecting on the present of this group, whose descendants still inhabit the Mesoamerican region today.
The exhibition, in keeping with the commitment made with the photographer, was later presented in various cities in Uruguay and at the International Book Fair in Montevideo.
Javier Hinojosa returns to La Paz to present this exhibition, organized by the Embassy of Mexico in Bolivia with the collaboration of MAPI – Museum of Pre-Columbian and Indigenous Art of Montevideo (Uruguay), on the occasion of the 214th Anniversary of Mexico’s Independence.
