The Museum of Pre-Columbian and Indigenous Art (MAPI) is proud to announce the opening of a new permanent gallery housing the extraordinary Claudio Rama Collection of Latin American Masks. The opening will take place on December 11 at 12:00 pm, at our premises located at 25 de Mayo 279.

With more than 300 masks and costumes, this collection brings together unique representations of carnivals and festivities from every corner of Latin America. Each piece tells a story that reflects the richness and diversity of our region’s cultural traditions, highlighting their deep artistic and historical roots.

This new gallery invites visitors to explore a mosaic of colors, forms, and expressions that have brought popular celebrations to life over time. The masks and costumes on display are a testament to the vast cultural heritage of Latin America, offering those who visit us an enriching and fascinating experience.

The collection, donated by Claudio Rama, represents an invaluable contribution to MAPI’s cultural collection, reaffirming our commitment to preserving and sharing the art and traditions of the peoples of Latin America.
