As part of the International Forum “Museums in the Middle 2025,” organized by the Friends of the National Museum of Fine Arts, MAPI presented a short film created entirely with artificial intelligence tools, developed by designer Valentina Golubei.

The piece was presented in the Transmedia panel, moderated by Natalia Ginzburg, which addressed the different ways in which museums experiment, communicate and expand their narratives in an increasingly hybrid and digital context.

The short film offers a poetic, minimalist look at MAPI’s trajectory between 2011 and 2020, a decade marked by the incorporation of technologies and new forms of cultural mediation. Through different milestones, the piece revisits projects that transformed the museum experience:

•The introduction of audio guides with augmented reality, which made it possible to activate the stories of the pieces.
•The development of muXeO and creation with XO, promoting visitors’ active participation.
•The video game TUKANO, which brought heritage closer to new audiences through the language of play.
•The museum’s digital expansion through Google Art Project and 360° virtual tours.
•The work in archaeomusicology, which made it possible to recover sounds of the past through tomographic studies.
•Technology as a means, not an end

Far from presenting technology as a goal in itself, the short film highlights a sustained line of work at the museum: using digital tools to solve concrete problems, broaden access, explore new languages and build contemporary connections with heritage.

Today, MAPI continues to develop its work as a transmedia ecosystem, integrating heritage, science, design and creativity to expand its reach beyond the physical space. This short film is presented as a synthesis of that journey: a way of narrating how the institution’s memory is projected into the future through new tools and formats.
