The MAPI has relaunched its Audio-Video Guides with Augmented Reality and Image Recognition technology.

The new version incorporates improvements in image resolution, making it possible to add new signage and to improve the app’s response speed in delivering information to the public.

The user interface has been improved, bringing its look into line with the MAPI’s overall communications.

The app can now also be downloaded to Android devices directly from the Google Play store. This way, the MAPI travels with you.

The Image Recognition technique is based on emerging interactive technologies with great potential in advertising and education.

This tool allows mobile devices (smartphones and tablets) to recognize images instantly by capturing an image with the camera, and can link related information to the object or piece, such as audio, images, 2D and 3D models, videos, or information pages.

The MAPI’s Audio-Video Guides give visitors detailed information on forty points of interest, with audio in Spanish and English, complemented by texts and images.

This information is updated in real time through an online content manager. It is a development by Ave Interactive that has already attracted the interest of other museums in the region because of its versatility for use with other types of collections.
