MAPI’s collection

Permanent collections of the museum

MAPI’s holdings are made up of diverse collections containing a wide range of objects belonging to different socio-cultural systems, from different periods and from different geographic regions of the American continent.

These are under two modalities: own and loans.
The former are the result of public and private donations, as well as the purchase of materials from different indigenous communities.
The latter are the result of loan agreements with private individuals and public institutions.

Our collection is currently composed of the following selections:

Composed of archaeological, ethnographic (of various materials), paleontological, documentary material (documents, photographs, slides), replicas and works of art inspired by traditions or elaborated with traditional techniques from different parts of the American continent.
The materials that compose it were donated or, in the case of some ethnographic materials, purchased from the communities that produced them.
